I’m Gabe Garza with today’s health news. Two Kansas City Royals baseball stars are expected to miss two weeks of playing time after contracting a common childhood disease. Allstar relief pitcher Kelvin Herrera and outfielder Alex Rios were diagnosed with chickenpox earlier last week, reports the Kansas City Star. Chickenpox is highly contagious and caused by the varicella zoster virus, according to the CDC. Adults are especially at risk, as they have a higher risk of dying or having serious side effects, according to the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases. Because symptoms can take up to three weeks to appear, Royals officials said.
